1.9 patch - Trainings, Transport, optimization
- Completely overhauled player keybinds.
the keybinds are divided to 'General', which is used for every situations, and the helicopter specific keybinds that are exclusively used for that helicopters. Even if you have played my game previously, It is recommended to reset keybinds and reconfigure it to make sure it works properly.
- Added pilot / copilot seat switching. you can take the role of copilot controlling TSU, and can still fly even if the pilot is dead.
- Added transportation. You can board infantries and complete transport missions.
- Added an alternative playable helicopter : MD-500E, an unarmed helicopter with external personnel carriers to carry 4 people at once.
- Mixed 'Seek and Destroy' and 'Air patrol' missions into one. You can now select the number and kinds of objectives (seek and destroy, air patrol, transport) to complete per mission.
- Added briefing menu : briefing shows your objectives, the locations of some spotted enemies, and the threat level of the battlefield. Prepare your loadout based on these informations prior to sortie.
- Since there's now a room for multiple playable helicopters, loadout save had been removed. Instead the game will automatically select the recommended loadout for the mission.
- Selecting both pylons now only works when equipped 2 exact same weapons.
- Added easy spotting options. This option displays UI icons on every units to help the player identifying the units during flying.
- Added various in-game instructions to remove boring PDF manual :
1. Database menu displaying the information of units and weapons.
2. instruction texts when hovering the cursor on menus.
3. In-game training missions to teach the player how to control MD-500 helicopter.
- For the first time after publishing the first version, I have updated the flight model. the way induced flow, blade flapping, and engine work had been completely overhauled to make it easier and simpler to make various helicopters with different flight models.
- Changed MD-530 naming to MD-500 as the flight model is based on MD-500E. MD-530MG is no longer a thing, now it's MD-500MG with MMS customization.
- Tons of Optimizations to make my game run smoother while having more units than the previous version.
The AI units now stop engaging, and AI helicopters turn into UFO flying mode when they are outside the rendering distance. This Unit Optimization is at infancy as they simply do nothing when they are not visible. I'm planning to introduce simulated dice roll wars in the future, to make the battle somewhat happens while eating a lot less CPU.
- Fixed various bugs and oversights from the previous version.
This update overhauled many parts of the game to make sure the next 2.0 update is going to be the final update of this prototype !
The final update will introduce artillery supports and VR mode. After that, I'll fork a different project out of this prototype.
